Makes 4 servings

  • 4-5 lbs beef short ribs, cut into pieces
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 12 oz bottle chili sauce
  • 1/2 cup beer or orange juice
  • 2 tbsp minced onion
  • 2 tbsp cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp sugar
  1. Sprinkle ribs with salt and pepper. 
  2. Combine remaining ingredients in a medium saucepan.  Bring to a boil over high heat; reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.  Set aside. 
  3. Preheat grill to medium-high heat. 
  4. Grill ribs for 20 minutes, turning frequently.  Baste ribs liberally with sauce and continue to cook another 20 minutes.

Makes 8 servings

  • 4 lb beef short ribs
  • 1 large onion, coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce, any flavor
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 tbsp prepared mustard
  1. Place ribs and onions in slow cooker. 
  2. Mix barbecue sauce, honey, flour and mustard; pour over ingredients in slow cooker.  Cover with lid.  Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours (or on HIGH for 5 hours) or until ribs are tender.
  3. Remove ribs from slow cooker; cover to keep warm.Skim excess fat from sauce; return ribs to sauce.  Stir gently until evenly coated.

Makes 6 servings

  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp paprika or smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • salt and ground black pepper
  • 4 lbs pork spareribs
  1. In 4 1/2 to 6 qt slow cooker bowl, stir onion, ketchup, vinegar, sugar, tomato paste, paprika, Worcestershire, mustard, 1 tbsp salt and 1 tsp pepper until combined.  Add ribs, cutting into several large pieces to fit in slow cooker bowl.  Spoon sauce over and around ribs to coat.  Cover slow cooker with lid and cook as manufacturer directs on low setting8-10 hours on on high setting 4-5 hours. 
  2. Transfer ribs to platter.  Skim and discard fat from cooking liquid.  Spoon remaining liquid over ribs.

Makes 4 servings

  • 4 pounds pork baby back ribs
  • 1 package Mesquite Marinade
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  1. Preheat charcoal or gas grill to medium heat. Place ribs on grill over indirect heat. Grill until ribs are done and tender, 1 to 1-1/2 hours; turn occasionally.
  2. Meanwhile, stir together remaining ingredients in a small bowl. Baste ribs with sauce, during last 20 minutes of grilling time, turn as necessary to coat all surfaces.

Makes 8 servings

  • 2 large racks pork baby back ribs (4 lb)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 barbecue sauce
  1. Cut ribs into 2 rib pieces.  Place rib pieces in large microwaveable bowl; add water.  Cover loosely with plastic wrap.  Microwave on high 20 minutes.  Drain off liquid and fat;  discard. 
  2. Heat grill to medium heat.  Brush ribs with barbecue sauce. 
  3. Grill ribs 10 minutes or until barbecue sauce sets thickly, turning occasionally.
